Complexity of Decisions — Part 7 of 7 (Knowing and Doing)
26 November 2018 · By Sameer Kamboj
Hi,
Thank you for waiting patiently for the last part in the current series of blogs on “Complexity of Decisions”.
Complexity of Decisions does not resolve itself through writing a few chapters. It does not get resolved even through discussions, debates, introspection and many forms of action. This is a matter that has remained Complex over the entire history of Humankind. It has been talked about by the wise and evil, both.
What to do and what not, how to be or how not to be, how to do or how not to, why to do or why not to, when to do or when not to, how much to do or how much not to, and more such dilemmas have occupied the minds of men and women all the time. Even a seemingly simple decision like “what should I wear this morning” can be confounding for many. Different people have tried to simplify their “dressing up” issues with methods by choosing only certain fixed colours on a daily basis, yet they remain doubtful of the answers and structures they have created for themselves.
Decisions are always aimed at gratification of our emotions that arise out of expectations. Our lack of awareness of “What we Really want” both in terms of our Emotional needs as well as our expectations keeps us confused about our best options and methods. Resolving our “Self” in terms of the following two point is my final part in this series of Complexity of Decisions:
Knowing what you Really Want . Every time I need to decide something, the first question I ask myself is Why do I need to do or have what I am desiring? For example, I need to plan a celebration around my marriage Anniversary, I ask myself, why do I need to celebrate? What am I trying to accomplish through the celebration? Am I rooted in comparison or competition or am I free in choosing my decision? Do I celebrate my love for my spouse or do I need to celebrate demonstration of my love? Am I influenced by the way other people celebrate? Am I fearful that if I do not celebrate, then I will have difficulty in dealing with my spouse? Clarity on what we truly desire defines the manifestation of results. Without this clarity, we can never derive satisfaction out of anything we do. Funnily, I see dissatisfied people more than Happy and Joyful ones! There is less wisdom in knowing the world, it lies more in knowing what You really want.
Never Stop and Never Tire : Decisions are never a one-time thing. It is an ongoing continuous process. We constantly improvise and redirect ourselves by looking at the compass of results. Doing this ceaselessly can be tiring. Humans have the tendency to feel fatigued and wish for times where things will just happen without them having to constantly engage. The moment you stop engaging to do the right things, right results stop happening. You can not tire or re-tire. Just go on and never stop.
To summarise the 7 parts to remove the complexity of decisions:
I thank you for following this entire series on Complexity of Decisions and my gratitude for the innumerable messages that I received both in appreciation and as suggestions. I am already thinking of new topics. See you all soon with some new thoughts.
Do read the blog at least 3 or 4 times to get the most out of it. Wishing you all an Amazing Life.
