Shalini Kamboj

Liberation begins where feeling is allowed.

People rarely arrive at Shalini with a problem stated clearly. They arrive tired, guarded, holding something they have not put down in years. She does not rush them. She stays, and the room becomes safe enough for the truth to surface on its own.

“Emotion is not the obstacle to clarity. Unmet emotion is.”

The Profile

The one who holds the space long enough for a person to arrive.

Shalini Kamboj co-founded SKC World with Sameer Kamboj in 1999 and has spent more than twenty-five years working with entrepreneurs, couples, families and young people. Her title, Chief Emotions Officer, is not decorative. It names the ground she holds in every room: the emotional reality that decisions, ambition and relationships actually run on.

Where inquiry opens a question, Shalini makes it safe to stay with it. Her work is with what people carry and rarely name: grief that was never given time, resentment worn smooth by years of politeness, love that has forgotten how to reach across a dinner table.

She works closely with business families, where the personal and the professional are inseparable, and with women and young people finding language for an inner life no one taught them to describe. Her approach is not therapeutic technique. It is presence, patience, and an unusual refusal to look away.

As a speaker and facilitator, she is direct without being sharp. She does not offer reassurance. She offers accuracy, which is a rarer kind of comfort.

The Inquiry

What is being felt, and never said?

Shalini’s inquiry began at home and in the rooms where families meet themselves: at succession tables, in marriages under strain, in children carrying expectations they never agreed to.

  • 01

What is a person actually feeling, underneath what they are able to say?

  • 02

Why do families that love each other still find each other so hard to reach?

  • 03

What does it take for someone to stop performing and simply be present?

  • 04

And what remains of us when the emotion is neither suppressed nor indulged, only met?

How the work moves

Most of us learned early to handle emotion rather than feel it: to keep it proportionate, useful, presentable. Shalini’s work begins by undoing that training. Not by encouraging expression for its own sake, but by allowing a feeling to be seen exactly as it is, without the story wrapped around it.

What follows is often quiet. A person stops defending a position. A parent hears a child for the first time in a decade. A founder admits that the enterprise has been carrying something the family never resolved.

Nothing needs to be fixed in a person who is finally being met.
What shifts

Not calmer — clearer

The aim is never composure. Composure can be another disguise. What changes is the relationship a person has with their own inner weather: less resistance, less performance, and far less energy spent holding a shape.

Twenty-five years, built together

SKC World, and now Unmukt

With Sameer Kamboj, Shalini built SKC World as a place where enterprise and the human being behind it could be looked at together. She conducts Anaavaran alongside Sameer and the seven co-founders, and her presence shapes every programme Unmukt runs.

Where the frameworks give people a way to see, Shalini gives them the conditions to stay with what they see. Both are required. Neither works alone.

A person does not open because they are pushed. They open because it became safe.

What she asks of you

Honesty, not eloquence. She does not need you to have language for what you are feeling, or a tidy account of how you arrived here. She asks only that you stop editing while you speak.

And time. Emotional truth does not arrive on schedule. It arrives when a person stops managing the room and lets the room hold them instead.

How she works

Quietly, and mostly out of view. Much of her work happens in one-to-one conversations that are never spoken about again, with people who came in certain they were beyond reach.

What people remember afterwards is rarely something she said. It is that they were allowed, for once, to be exactly as they were.

You do not have to be well to be worth meeting. You only have to be here.
